Hollie and Steve help at Jimmy’s Homeless Shelter Cambridge

Homelessness is a growing concern in many cities around the world, and Cambridge is no exception. Fortunately, there are many individuals and organisations working to address this issue, including Jimmy’s Homeless Shelter Cambridge.

Jimmy’s Homeless Shelter is a non-profit organisation that provides emergency accommodation and support to individuals experiencing homelessness in Cambridge.

The shelter offers a range of services, including meals, showers, laundry facilities, and a safe place to sleep. They also provide access to healthcare, education, and employment services to help individuals transition out of homelessness.

In addition to their emergency shelter services, Jimmy’s Homeless Shelter also runs a winter night shelter program, which provides additional beds during the coldest months of the year, and a street outreach program that provides support and resources to individuals who are sleeping rough.

Cambridge, along with the support of Jimmy’s, is also one of the first cities in the UK to explore modular homes as a solution to the homelessness crisis and are proud to be at the forefront of this ground-breaking project that could be rolled out to cities across the UK.

With so many projects to manage the organisation relies heavily on donations and volunteers to provide their services, which is how Hollie and Steve came to help at the shelter on Wednesday 19th April.

Steve took on the role of head chef and produced a delicious lasagne, whilst Hollie supplied the pudding, jam sponge and custard. They were delighted to be able to help, and admired the charities commitment to treating every individual with dignity and respect. Homelessness can happen to anyone and it’s important to provide a welcoming and supportive environment to those in need.

Jimmy’s are always in need of donations of food, clothing, and other essential items, as well as financial contributions to support their programs.
