My Black Dog
My Black Dog is a mental health charity of which it’s name is a reference to the black dog of depression, a term used by Winston Churchill to describe his own experience of the illness.
My Black Dog’s mission is to help people feel less alone with their mental health. The charity works to achieve this mission through a variety of initiatives, including:
- Free online chat support: My Black Dog offers free online chat support to anyone who is struggling with their mental health. The chat service is staffed by trained volunteers who have lived experience of mental health challenges.
- Mental health events: My Black Dog is involved in a variety of events throughout the year, such as workshops, talks, and festivals. These events provide a safe space for people to talk about their mental health and to connect with others who understand what they are going through. It also raises awareness for the charity, for those who may need its services as well as for those who want to be a part of supporting it.
- Ambassadors: My Black Dog has a team of ambassadors who are passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues. The ambassadors share their own stories of mental health recovery and they work to promote positive mental health messages.
My Black Dog is a valuable resource for people affected by mental health conditions. The charity’s work helps to improve the lives of people with mental health conditions and to create a mentally healthier world for everyone.
